Job Summary

The University of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Inpatient Psychiatry Addictions Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our psychiatric team, you will provide individual and group counseling/therapy, recovery support, alcohol and other drug (AOD) assessment/counseling, harm reduction education, and clinical consultation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counseling/therapy to patients with addiction issues
  • Develop and implement recovery plans for patients
  • Conduct AOD assessments and provide counseling
  • Provide harm reduction education and support
  • Collaborate with the psychiatric team to provide comprehensive care
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and treatment planning
  • Document patient care according to professional standards and departmental guidelines
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
  • Three-five years of experience working with clients in recovery from substance use disorders
  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) certification or Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC)
