- Directly supervises food production staff in a high-volume kitchen environment, including task assignment, performance evaluation, and conflict resolution.
- May participate in the hiring and training processes for new employees.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Alaska Food Handler's Card or ServSafe Certification required within 30 days of hire.
- A minimum of three years of experience as a kitchen manager in a restaurant or healthcare environment.
- At least three years of experience managing a production team of 25 or more.
- Experience must demonstrate knowledge of food service sanitation practices, supervisory skills, leadership abilities, and quality control in food preparation.
- Some locations may require specific health, food service, or sanitation certifications.
- A valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record for the past three years is necessary for eligibility under vehicle insurance policies.
- Contract requires proficiency in English, including speaking, understanding, reading, and writing.
- Preference given to candidates with a Culinary Associate's Degree or related field.
- Five years of continuous employment in similar roles with comparable responsibilities.
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings, with occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions. The noise level is moderate, and the pace of work is medium with high customer interaction. The environment consists of an industrial kitchen located within a school setting. Physical tasks include frequent sitting, standing, walking, using hands and fingers, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing, seeing, tasting, smelling, and lifting/carrying weights of up to 35 pounds. Travel may be required up to 25% to various remote locations within the region, utilizing alternative transportation methods such as snow machines, boats, small aircraft, and ATVs. Travel arrangements are coordinated by NMS.
