Position Overview:

We are seeking dedicated Flight Nurses to deliver exceptional patient care in alignment with GMR protocols and medical directives. This role involves supporting the coverage of open shifts as required within the designated area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete and submit electronic patient care records for each dispatched flight within the designated timeframe, along with daily base checks, including narcotic inventory.
  • Provide advanced life support care from initial contact until patient transfer to the receiving medical facility, ensuring thorough documentation of patient care.
  • Maintain clinical competency through ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences.
  • Document required licensure, certifications, continuing education, safety protocols, and advanced procedures in the Employee Education Manual.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies utilized in emergency programs.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public.
  • Function effectively as a medical flight team member.
  • Participate in pre-mission briefings and debriefings, completing necessary documentation.
  • Assist with pre-mission liftoff checklists and provide pilot support as needed, including radio communication, navigation, and visual observation.
  • Adhere to safety standards to ensure the safety of self, medical personnel, patients, and equipment prior to liftoff.
  • Conduct aircraft safety briefings as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Experience:
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an emergency or critical care environment is required.
  • Flight experience is preferred.
Education:
  • Current RN licensure in the states served by the assigned area is required.
  • EMT Certification in applicable states is required.
  • AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications are required prior to flight status. Trauma certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • Advanced certifications (CEN, CCRN, CFRN) are preferred and must be obtained within twelve months from the date of hire.
  • Instructor certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP, and ITLS/PHTLS are preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be willing to shave facial hair (if necessary) to ensure proper fit for an N95 mask.
  • Must possess the gross and fine motor skills necessary to provide a full range of safe and effective patient care activities.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 150 pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
