Position Overview:

As a vital member of the Guardian Flight team, the Flight Nurse is responsible for delivering exceptional patient care in alignment with established protocols and medical guidance. This role involves assisting with shift coverage as necessary within the designated operational area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete and submit electronic patient care records for each flight dispatched within the required timeframe, including daily checks such as narcotic inventory.
  • Provide advanced life support care from the moment of initial contact until the patient is transferred to the receiving medical facility, ensuring comprehensive documentation of patient care.
  • Maintain proficiency in clinical skills through continuous participation in laboratory and clinical training.
  • Document and keep current all necessary licensure, certifications, continuing education, and advanced procedures as outlined in the Employee Education Manual.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the operation and routine maintenance of all medical equipment and supplies utilized in emergency services.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues, emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, hospitals, and the community.
  • Act as a medical crew member on flights.
  • Participate in pre-mission briefings and debriefings, ensuring all required documentation is completed.
  • Assist with pre-flight checklists and provide pilot support as needed, including radio communication and navigational assistance.
  • Adhere to safety protocols to ensure the well-being of all personnel, patients, and equipment prior to takeoff.
  • Conduct safety briefings for the aircraft as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Experience:
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an emergency or critical care environment is required.
  • Previous flight experience is preferred.
Education:
  • Current RN licensure in the states served by the operational area is required.
  • EMT certification in applicable states is necessary.
  • AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications are required prior to flight status, with trauma certification to be obtained within six months of hire.
  • Advanced certifications (CEN, CCRN, CFRN) are preferred and must be obtained within twelve months of hire.
  • Instructor certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP, and ITLS/PHTLS are preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be willing to adjust facial hair as necessary to ensure proper fit for an N95 mask.
  • Must possess the gross and fine motor skills necessary to provide a full range of safe and effective patient care.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 150 pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
