As a Flight Nurse with Guardian Flight, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care during air transport. Your responsibilities will include adhering to established protocols and medical directives while ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete and submit electronic patient care records for each flight within designated timeframes, including daily base checks and narcotic counts.
- Provide advanced life support care from the moment of initial contact until the patient is handed over to the receiving medical facility, ensuring thorough documentation of patient care.
- Maintain and enhance your clinical skills through ongoing training and participation in laboratory and clinical experiences.
- Keep accurate records of required licensure, certifications, continuing education, and advanced procedures as outlined in the Employee Education Manual.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use and maintenance of all emergency equipment and supplies.
- Foster positive relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public.
- Act as a key member of the medical flight team.
- Participate in pre-mission briefings and debriefings, completing all necessary documentation.
- Assist with pre-mission checklists and provide pilot support as needed, including radio and navigational assistance.
- Adhere to safety standards to ensure the well-being of yourself, medical personnel, patients, and equipment prior to liftoff.
- Conduct aircraft safety briefings as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an emergency or critical care environment is required.
- Flight experience is preferred.
- Current RN licensure in the states served by the assigned area is mandatory.
- EMT Certification in applicable states is required.
- AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications are required prior to flight status, with trauma certification to be obtained within six months of hire.
- Advanced certifications (CEN, CCRN, CFRN) are preferred and must be acquired within twelve months from the date of hire.
- Instructor certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP, and ITLS/PHTLS are preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Willingness to shave facial hair if necessary to ensure a proper fit for an N95 mask.
- Ability to perform a full range of safe and effective patient care activities, including lifting and moving up to 150 pounds with assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.
