The Little Nell is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Jr. Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for assisting in maintaining smooth operations of the kitchen during assigned shifts.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in setting up and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment
- Prepare and cook food to order, adhering to Executive Chef specifications and recipes
- Properly store all mise en place and submit production needs for the following day
- Work all stations as required, including expediting lunch or dinner service
- Develop and train line staff, including externs, to standard performance levels
- Assure safe and clean work conditions for all personnel
- Communicate with the Sous Chef on duty to ensure proper service according to assigned shifts
- Report to work on time, in a neatly groomed and acceptable manner
- Be a role model for others and maintain a 100% satisfaction rate
- Assist in daily inventories and maintain a diligent and economical use of labor and product
- Learn to read a P&L and understand the dynamics of labor and food cost management
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Five years of culinary experience
- Culinary degree or equivalent
The Jr. Sous Chef will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, regularly working in wet, hot, and humid conditions for extended periods of time. The ability to reach, crouch, kneel, smell, taste, stand, walk, or be on your feet for extended periods of time is required. The position also requires the ability to frequently lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance.
