Position Overview:

The Senior Fixed Income Analyst plays a crucial role in collaborating with the Securitized Products Group portfolio managers to optimize the portfolio management process. This is achieved through the creation and upkeep of various databases, financial models, and information systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with middle office analysts to generate daily, monthly, and quarterly reports for internal risk management, as well as tailored and standardized reports for all associated and external clients.
  • Oversee and enhance existing databases, financial models, and reporting systems, ensuring data integrity and process optimization.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses of macroeconomic variables, evaluate various fixed income subsectors, and analyze individual securities or issuer platforms, along with top-down portfolio exposure assessments.
  • Assist in the implementation, maintenance, and utilization of front-end portfolio management systems (PORT), integrating data from various third-party systems.
  • Facilitate communication with accounting, IT, actuarial, and marketing departments to ensure smooth information flow across all areas.
  • Analyze securities within specific subsectors of the securitized market, recommending securities for inclusion in total return fixed income mandates and ALM mandates to generate alpha or match liabilities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external research, sales, syndication, and trading teams.

Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Typically requires 3+ years of proven experience in structured products markets or a demonstrated strong interest in the fixed income asset management sector.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in data analysis using Excel (VBA preferred) and data visualization tools.
  • Ability to conceptualize, implement, and utilize new tools and methodologies effectively.
  • Capability to work under multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in influencing a group towards a recommended course of action.
  • Strong quantitative and mathematical skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative for continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Proven team orientation, with examples of promoting team interests.

Work Environment:

  • Office setting, frequently remaining stationary for extended periods while working at a desk or attending meetings.
  • Visual acuity to read various documents and prepare and analyze data.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a quantitative-related field.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Knowledge of Visual Basic programming and database software is a plus.

Certifications:

  • CFA designation or a willingness to pursue CFA or MBA is preferred.

Position Demands:

  • Extended hours may be required during peak workloads or special projects.
