Job Title: Applications Software Developer, Journeyman

About the Role:

MILVETS Systems Technology, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Applications Software Developer, Journeyman to join our team. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for designing, writing, testing, and troubleshooting computer programs or database development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and create general computer applications software or specialized utility programs.
  • Analyze user needs and develop software solutions.
  • Design software or customize software for client use to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Analyze and design databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team.
  • Participate in all phases of software application programs engineering, including design, analysis, and modeling at a highly technical level.
  • Perform software operating systems and application engineering, including full life cycle application systems design and development.
  • Assess system architecture and hardware limitations.
  • Define and select new concepts and approaches for the design, development, and implementation of software engineering applications.
  • Direct research on emerging technologies to determine impacts on application execution.
  • Develop block diagrams and logic flow charts.
  • Translate detailed design into computer software.
  • Test, debug, and refine the computer software to produce the required product.
  • Prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation.
  • Enhance software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency.
  • Provide technical direction to programmers to ensure program deadlines are met.
  • Experience in information system design, including application programming on large-scale DBMS and the development of complex software to satisfy design objectives.
  • Perform systems modeling, database analysis, design, implementation, and testing.
  • Write, modify, and maintain technical documentation and specifications such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • May customize purchased applications.
  • Perform technical and subject matter research on emerging technologies to determine impacts on application execution.
  • Perform integration testing and support of various computer operating and/or network systems.
  • Troubleshoot and provide customer support for software operating systems and application issues.
  • Analyze and document client needs and requirements.
  • Serve as liaison with clients, participate in meetings to ensure client needs are met, and may make client presentations.
  • May serve as task or team lead, exercising leadership in either a technical role training other software engineers and implementing and enforcing established standards and technologies, or in a project coordination role leading tasks and assuming responsibility for the design, development, test, and delivery of a software system or application.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned.
  • Participate in special projects as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience.
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in a related field or at minimum Information Technology (IT) Certification.
  • Requires DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification IAT Level II (e.g., CompTIA Sec+).
  • Active United States Department of Defense Secret clearance is required.
