Responsibilities:
* Prepares patients for examination, explaining procedures in layman terms to relieve patient anxiety
* Ensures patients are screened according to protocol and obtains consent for procedures when necessary
* Positions patients on examination tables for optimal testing procedures and conditions
* Sets up equipment to administer procedures in a timely fashion
* Performs MRI procedures as prescribed by ordering physicians
* Obtains images of anatomical areas of interest at appropriate slice thickness and pulse sequence
* Ensures proper views and images have been obtained and proper techniques have been employed
* Collects all pertinent data and calculations for physician interpretation
* Monitors patient condition by directly observing patients during examination, recognizing and reporting abnormal changes
* Acknowledges and reviews images in computer systems, ensuring accuracy of all patient data
* Processes imaging and prints CDs as required
* Performs minor repairs and frequent calibration checks and adjusts MRI equipment as required
* Adheres to Infection Control guidelines in the performance of duties
* Maintains cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and accessories
Requirements:
* Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
* New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist
* American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration
* American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) certification
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
* Prior MRI experience preferred
* Ability to communicate effectively
Salary Range:
$40-$40/hour
