Job Title: Senior Research Program Officer, Precision Health Initiative

The University of Virginia is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Program Officer to join our team in the Precision Health Initiative. As a key member of our operations team, you will work closely with faculty to implement and administer the vision, strategy, and goals of the new initiative.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and administer research activities by evaluating programs and projects, making recommendations, and coordinating changes.
  • Collect and analyze data, create reports, and review trends to determine program effectiveness.
  • Write and edit content for proposals, peer-reviewed publications, websites, and other program activities.
  • Represent the Precision Health Initiative as the key contact and subject matter expert, developing communications for internal and external constituencies.
  • Monitor expenses, budgets, and finances of the program, making recommendations on funding based on program spending.
Requirements:
  • Advanced degree required.
  • Four years of research experience in a relevant scientific field required.
  • Demonstrated oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in the area of specialization.
  • Ability to oversee and provide basic direction to staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in the biomedical sciences, public health sciences, or a related scientific field.
  • Research experience related to public health sciences and genomics.
  • Prior experience in technical and nontechnical writing.
  • Familiarity with funding agencies and academic research funding sources.
Work Environment:

This is a hybrid position that will require the ability to be in the office up to two days a week in Charlottesville, Va. The position does require the ability to work occasional extended hours, evenings or weekends, and may require local travel occasional overnight travel.
