Job SummaryThe Safety Coordinator will report to the Senior Safety Manager and will support personnel across all departments. This role requires a candidate who resides in one of the following cities: Midwest Region, US - Austin, TX; Oklahoma City, OK; Kansas, New Mexico.
Key Responsibilities- Regional Travel
- Assist local management in the investigation of work-related incidents to determine cause and contributing factors.
- Develop mitigation measures and corrective actions for the objective findings of observations and inspection deficiencies to reduce the risk of hazards from recurring within the organization.
- Conduct or facilitate training and education programs to supervisory and field employees through formal training classes, safety meetings, or other venues.
- Administer recordkeeping and documentation for compliance with safety training policies and requirements within assigned area of responsibility.
- Recommend safe work processes and demonstrate personal protective equipment safety features that will reduce employee exposure to workplace and environmental hazards.
- Ensure tools, equipment, materials, vehicles, and technical instruments are fit-for-purpose, functional, calibrated, and the appropriate protective equipment, methods, guard, management systems are in place to reduce or eliminate the risk of employee injuries or illnesses
- MUST possess 3-4 years of Electric Utility Safety Coordinator experience.
- Associates degree or equivalent related work experience of 4 years.
- Knowledge of substation safe work practices with reference to OSHA standards.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Ability to consider the relative costs, risks, and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one based on business and employee needs.
- Ability to actively listen, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Ability to Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement appropriate solutions.
- Ability to monitor/assess performance of self, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective actions.
- BCSP certifications are a plus
- OSHA 500/ 510 a plus
This job operates in a field environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
