Position Summary

The role of the Site Coordinator encompasses the oversight of educational programs at designated Head Start locations, ensuring effective staff management and parental engagement. This position plays a crucial part in fostering the growth and development of children by applying appropriate early childhood education practices. The Site Coordinator is committed to treating all individuals with respect and dignity, facilitating necessary referrals, and embodying the mission of the South Central Community Action Program, Inc. (SCCAP) to empower individuals to achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Management and Support
  • Ensure children are never left unattended in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Report any suspected child abuse or neglect as mandated by law.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of educational goals and objectives.
  • Lead the education staff in creating curricula that effectively address child outcomes.
  • Conduct regular meetings with teaching staff.
  • Facilitate parent-teacher conferences.
Monitoring and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare necessary reports.
  • Act as the Licensing Specialist for State Child Care Licensing, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct bi-annual classroom observations to assess educational quality.
Human Resources Oversight
  • Guide and evaluate educational staff, ensuring professional development opportunities are available.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills.
  • Communicate effectively with all program staff to foster trust and collaboration.
  • Address operational issues related to staff scheduling and procedures.
  • Oversee training and mentoring for classroom staff and volunteers.
Community Engagement
  • Build and maintain relationships with local educational institutions and early childhood services.
  • Encourage parental involvement in program activities and community service.
  • Organize Open Houses and community events in collaboration with the Family Advocate.
  • Engage in securing contributions from families and community members.
  • Provide opportunities for family literacy services.
Qualifications

Education and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to travel as required for meetings and training.
Required Skills
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle with liability insurance.
  • Professional demeanor and conduct.
  • Alignment with the mission of SCCAP.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification.
Childcare Requirements
  • Clear of Child Abuse and Neglect.
  • Annual TB test.
  • Pre-employment drug test and physical examination.
Physical and Mental Demands

Ability to perform light to moderate physical tasks, including lifting and carrying. Requires good hearing and vision. Must effectively manage diverse challenges daily and maintain a positive attitude while interacting with individuals from various backgrounds.
