Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Nursing Leader to join our team at the University of New Mexico Hospitals. This is a part-time position working in the Adult IP Admission Unit.

About the Role:

  • Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, utilizing the nursing process to ensure safe and effective care.
  • Assume relief charge duties when designated, demonstrating leadership skills and promoting a positive work environment.
  • Serve as a role model, promoting quality patient care and adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients, incorporating age-specific considerations into individualized care plans.
  2. Participate in orientation and assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel.
  3. Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained and maintaining a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
  4. Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights; document and communicate clinical findings.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Program Graduate (Essential); Bachelor's Degree (Non-essential)
  • Experience: No minimum experience required (Essential); Bilingual English/Spanish (Non-essential)
  • Credentials: CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days (Essential); RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM (Essential)

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Conditions: Heavy Work, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
  • Working Environment: Essential: Sig Hazard, Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials require PPE.

Compensation and Benefits:

Estimated salary range: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, employees enjoy comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
