About the Role

Insight Global is seeking a seasoned Senior Estimator to join our team in a large construction company. As a key member of our estimating team, you will be responsible for leading estimators in preparing time, cost, and labor estimates for projects under various delivery methods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate Preparation: Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to lead estimators in preparing accurate and comprehensive estimates.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and train other estimators, lead a team during the estimating process, and participate in executive review and estimating meetings.
  • Subcontractor and Vendor Management: Develop strategies to create value for the bid, lead meetings with subcontractors/vendors to ensure complete scopes and aligned strategies.
  • Risk and Contract Management: Perform risk and contract management responsibilities as required on bids.
  • Minority Participation Strategies: Lead the development of minority participation strategies to achieve project requirements.
  • Estimate Review and Validation: Review total estimate to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to formal quotation.
  • Cost Management: Manage information systems to compare estimated costs to actual costs.
  • Process Improvement: Research and lead the process of continuous improvement in developing more efficient estimating methods.
  • Site Observations: Examine construction sites and observe unusual or challenging conditions.
Requirements
  • Education: Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Experience: 10+ years of heavy civil estimating and cost control-related experience.
  • Industry Knowledge: Wide range of public agency and private client experience highly preferred.
  • Estimating Skills: Proficient at a wide range of estimating disciplines.
  • Leadership: Demonstrate the ability to lead multiple projects and pursuits at any given time.
  • Software Proficiency: Knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software (Excel, Heavy Bid, Bluebeam, AGTek, Building Connected).
