About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Production Support Engineer to join our team at The Charles Schwab Corporation. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting for our Order Management System and Quantitative Risk Service (QRS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to alerts and escalations, manage incidents and issues, and provide technical documentation
  • Independently support and configure complex systems, including Linux OS and Java applications
  • Troubleshoot, research, and resolve major defects, errors, and inconsistencies in systems functions and outputs
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotating schedule, including specific designated systems
  • Work with peers and vendors to design technical solutions to complex application issues
  • Focus on service restoration and reducing Mean Time To Restoration (MTTR)
  • Provide support guidance and direction for other production support resources
  • Maintain space requirements on servers and acquire and master the general skill set required for supporting and restoring services for all management designated applications and systems
Requirements
  • 4-year college degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of related experience within Java and product support
  • Ability to perform in-depth code reviews, provide mentoring for junior developers, and experience with Spring Boot 2 or 3
  • 3+ years of monitoring and optimizing the Linux OS/system hardware for best application performance
  • 5+ years of scripting languages (shell, Perl, Python, Ruby)
  • At least 2+ years of experience with Salt, Ansible, Puppet, including identifying areas of enhancement and deploying automated processes to minimize human intervention
Preferred Qualifications
  • Java 17 and up preferable
  • Rudimentary knowledge of Agile SDLC a plus
  • Working knowledge of Git VCS a plus
  • Experience with in-memory data grids a plus
