About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Engineer to join our team at Barbaricum. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and direction for Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3), Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4), and Information Technology (IT) engineering programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recommend and implement new database technologies and strategies to enhance USSTRATCOM's evolving data storage and access requirements.
  • Design and manage database architectures that are in alignment with Presidential, DoD, and USSTRATCOM's mission requirements.
  • Assume responsibility for 1) Database Architecture & Engineering, and 2) Database Integration within cloud environments.
  • Conduct research on emerging database technologies, prepare business case analyses (BCAs) to advise leadership on database solutions, and collaborate with national labs, industry, and academia to align with best practices in database management, architecture, and engineering.
  • Drive innovation by improving database processes, implementing potential and validated database solutions, and ensuring these meet the future requirements of Presidential, DoD, and USSTRATCOM.

Requirements:

  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance
  • A minimum of 12 years' experience as an IT Subject Matter Expert with at least four years of documented experience with systems engineering and/or relevant technical systems engineering processes for USSTRATCOM.
  • Proven project management skills with at least two years of experience monitoring, managing, and assessing the progress of complex database projects.
  • Training or hands-on experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining database systems that adhere to DoD cybersecurity policies and regulations, DoD Software Modernization Policies, and DoD DevSecOps architectures.
  • Maintain IAT Level II Certifications per DODI M (current CompTIA Security+ certification strongly desired)

This team will provide IT engineering expertise for enterprise systems in the C2F to ensure the Command's IT architecture and solutions will meet mission and enterprise capability requirements for Nuclear Command and Control, Cyber, Electromagnetic Spectrum Management, and Missile Defense.

This Engineer will compute, store and backup data as an engineer with training and experience on new techniques and software defined approaches for Platform as a Service (PaaS) and infrastructure.
