Job Summary and Qualifications

Responsibilities:
- Plan, assess, implement, and evaluate care delivery for assigned ER patients.
- In accordance with hospital policy, may insert IVs, administer IV medications, and initiate blood product transfusions.
- Observe and document patient reactions to medications, IV therapy, blood transfusions, and treatments.
- Triage patients by assessing their signs and symptoms; record and report findings.
- Assist physicians during patient examinations and treatments and process orders.
- Receive and transcribe/check physician's orders promptly.
- Provide and document patient and family education as necessary.
- Communicate clinical outcomes with patients and families.
- Operate efficiently with Meditech.
- Coordinate admission through discharge plans with case managers, patients, and families.
- Actively participate in the orientation of new staff members.

Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; Associate's Degree required.
- Current licensure by the Indiana State Board of Nursing as a Registered Professional Nurse or active Compact State RN licensure required.
- BLS certification required upon hire; ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications to be obtained within the first 6 months and maintained during employment.
- TNCC certification to be obtained within one year of hire and maintained during employment.
