Job Summary

College of the Canyons is seeking highly qualified adjunct faculty members to join our Physics department. As an adjunct instructor, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education to our students, contributing to the development of our curriculum, and collaborating with colleagues to achieve our academic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach physics courses at the college level, including lectures, discussions, and laboratory sessions.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assessments, and evaluations to promote student learning and success.
  • Provide individualized support and guidance to students, including office hours, tutoring, and academic advising.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and program evaluation to ensure alignment with college goals and accreditation standards.
  • Stay current with developments in physics and education, incorporating best practices and innovative pedagogies into your teaching.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement new courses, programs, and initiatives that meet the needs of our students and the community.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in physics, astronomy, or astrophysics, or a related field.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in physics or astronomy and a master's degree in engineering, mathematics, meteorology, or geophysics.
  • OR Equivalent qualifications, as determined by the college.
  • Valid California Community College Instructor Credential in Physics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with educational technology, including learning management systems, online course delivery, and multimedia resources.
