POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accounts Receivable Manager, overseeing a team of two, is tasked with evaluating customer creditworthiness, managing the collection and application of all customer payments, while ensuring compliance with SOX regulations throughout all operations. This role also encompasses responsibilities related to supply chain financing arrangements and various forms of financial analysis and reporting to both company leadership and the commercial sales team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the team in the collection and analysis of all items within Silgan Plastics' accounts receivable portfolio.
- Assign a portfolio of accounts to the Accounts Receivable Manager and Collections Analysts.
- Establish and review customer payment terms and credit limits.
- Manage and communicate the Credit Hold process for overdue customers.
- Reconcile customer claims and deductions at the time of payment.
- Determine the timing for referring overdue accounts to third-party agencies.
- Manage accounts that may enter bankruptcy proceedings.
- Oversee the cash application process for Silgan Plastics' accounts receivable portfolio.
- Analyze and report monthly accounts receivable results to company leadership.
- Evaluate and report metrics related to accounts receivable to Silgan Plastics' Finance and Sales Teams.
- Collaborate with the Sales Team and Customer Service on credit-related matters to assist in relationship negotiations.
- Oversee the credit hold process, including communication with customers, internal sales management, and manufacturing/shipping facilities.
- Manage the Credit Application process for new customers applying for terms.
- Analyze new customer credit applications to determine credit limits and terms.
- Provide analysis for Extended Terms Requests using Cost of Capital or Supply Chain Finance tools.
- Lead the coordination of supply chain financing agreements and terms changes through the established approval process.
- Assess accounts that may be at risk and identify specific accounts that should be reserved in Silgan's Allowance for Doubtful Accounts.
- Prepare for approval the analysis for Silgan Plastics' Allowance for Doubtful Accounts calculation in accordance with company policy requirements for monthly and quarterly schedules.
- Provide a monthly forecast of an 18-month rolling accounts receivable balance.
- Ensure all aspects of accounts receivable and credit activities comply with SOX regulations.
- Manage and submit quarterly and annual audit requests.
- Responsible for the annual review and filing of accounts requiring escheatment.
- Assist the Director of FP&A and the company Controller in evaluating and developing cash projections by providing timely and accurate estimates of expected cash receipts.
- Manage the EDI process, including coordinating the customer onboarding process, liaising with IT teams, and reviewing and resolving rejections.
- Above all, work to foster, enhance, and maintain a strong partnership with Silgan Plastics' customer base.
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: A minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience and at least 3 years of supervisory experience in the credit domain.
SKILLS:
Required: Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with interpersonal, leadership, organizational, and negotiation skills. A minimum of two years of experience with customer visits. Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably Oracle) and applications related to the credit function. Strong capabilities in Excel and Word are essential. Some travel may be required to meet with customers in their environments. Strong analytical skills for comprehensive financial analysis and problem-solving abilities.
