Job Summary

We're seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our bakery team as a Bakery Clerk. In this role, you'll be responsible for scaling, mixing, and baking various bakery goods, maintaining proper inventory levels, and ensuring the cleanliness and appearance of the bakery department meets our high standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers, consistently meeting our high standards of customer satisfaction.
  • Produce bakery products for retail stores, ensuring quality and freshness.
  • Operate and clean equipment and work area, maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary bakery environment.
  • Package all fresh products following all packaging and handling procedures.
  • Ensure quality of goods by following code dating procedures and legal regulations.
  • Mixes icing or other toppings by scaling and measuring ingredients, operating a mixer, and reading recipes.
  • Dumps icing or other toppings into large storage containers.
  • Sets up cakes by taking liners off, putting icing between layers, and decorating with various toppings.
  • Packages cakes by placing them in boxes and labeling them with accurate information.
  • Displays products on shelves by arranging them in an appealing manner and using FIFO for rotation.
  • Takes orders by phone and in person from customers, special orders by following customer requests, and uses an airbrush machine to create custom designs.
  • Personalizes cakes by writing customer messages and creating custom designs.
  • Faces merchandise and maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness, providing fast and friendly customer service.
  • Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques to increase sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Displays goods by following packaging and handling procedures, and maintains stock, cleanliness, and appeal of product show cases, display tables, and special displays.
  • Assists customers with inquiries, providing accurate information on pricing, ingredients, availability, and advertised merchandise.
  • Ensures quality of goods by following code dating procedures and legal regulations, and ensures quantity of goods is available by keeping the manager informed of stock levels.
  • Produces breads and rolls by mixing recipes, setting up racks and pans, and operating machines.
  • Cleans work area using pressure hoses, floor brushes, and squeegees, and maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary bakery environment.
  • Produces croissants by folding, proofing, and baking.
  • Opens and closes the bakery according to company procedures.
Requirements
  • Ability to consistently provide friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work varied hours, primarily between 3:00 am and 10:00 pm, in a 24/7 operation.
  • Ability to lift objects of various dimensions, up to 50 pounds, and push and pull approximately 100 pounds of product at a time.
  • Ability to conduct visual inspections, read and follow production guides, recipes, and product labels, and log production quantities and temperature readings.
  • Ability to maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to reach overhead, stand, walk, and move rapidly for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, balance, crouch, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, perform repetitive movements, and reach frequently.
  • Ability to handle bakery ingredients and perform basic math and compute weights and measures.
  • Ability to perform duties with mental alertness, involving potential hazards with respect to baking procedures, equipment, and work aides.
  • Ability to respond to audible timers on baking equipment.
  • Ability to perform around equipment and product emitting heat (approximately 465 degrees).
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures and department policies.
  • Ability to wear hats, hairnets, gloves, and other personal protective equipment as required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers, and read and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to operate kitchen utensils and equipment with manual dexterity, speed, accuracy, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of product content and perishability, safety and sanitation procedures, and department policies and government regulations.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Machines and Equipment Operated
  • Ovens, proof box, mixers, bread sheeter, flour dump bins, floor scrubber, dishwasher, rack washer, pallet jack, microwave, 20pt divider, 36pt divider, donut filler unit, airbrush, date gun, scan gun, and DIGI printer, label machine, and ink jet printer.

Salary: $16.50 - $27.45 per hour
