Job Summary

The Chief Housekeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall cleanliness, sanitation, and upkeep of all passenger cabins and public areas on board our vessels while maintaining compliance with company and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with various departments to implement housekeeping initiatives and ensure seamless operations.
  • Manage and supervise housekeeping and porter crews to maintain high standards of cleanliness and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure operating procedures comply with all relevant state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain inventory of passenger and housekeeping supplies, including laundry and cleaning materials.
  • Manage the housekeeping budget and optimize resource allocation.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee performance and productivity.
  • Work closely with the Hotel Manager to address areas of concern and implement corrective actions.
  • Communicate with guests regarding special services and requests.
  • Conduct daily inspections of passenger rooms to ensure preventative maintenance, repairs, and adherence to company standards.
  • Coordinate with engineering to address repair and maintenance needs.
  • Monitor laundry production to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Inspect public areas and direct porter staff to ensure cleaning per checklists.
  • Supervise and assist with luggage handling, adhering to TSA regulations.
  • Coordinate shore-side laundry services and ensure uniform repair capabilities.
  • Maintain chemical and supply orders, ensuring proper usage and compliance.
  • Prepare housekeeping recommendations for annual lay-up and capital budget.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and provide timely reports.
  • Emphasize hospitality standards in daily duties.
  • Participate in USCG-mandated drills and emergency procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required, ensuring overall housekeeping excellence.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred or equivalent experience
  • Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) if applicable, and/or ability to obtain and maintain
  • Copy of DD214, if Veteran status
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a pleasant and professional manner
  • Must maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance at all times
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Ability to train and supervise employees
  • Logically and independently plan, organize, and complete work assignments
  • At least five to seven years of experience in a position with similar duties and responsibilities
  • Cruise industry experience preferred
  • Must submit to and pass mandated USCG physical
  • Ability to meet and maintain the maximum onboard bunk bed capacity of 300 lbs.
  • Ability to conduct work in a marine environment subject to confined spaces, uneven surfaces, variations in temperature, wake, and motion
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Submit to and pass alcohol and drug tests as mandated by the USCG
  • Must have COVID-19 vaccine
  • Must have a valid driver's license
