Job Summary

As a Paralegal Specialist in the Army National Guard, you will provide critical support to judges, lawyers, and unit commanders with legal matters and judicial work. Your expertise will be invaluable in areas like family law, international law, contract law, defense legal services, and judicial legal services.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing legal documents for courts-martial and other military justice matters
• Provide guidance on legal affairs, such as power of attorney, wills, and separation decrees
• Maintain law and administrative libraries
• Review actions for accuracy and provide technical guidance to subordinates

What You'll Learn

Your training will equip you with the skills to interview witnesses, research court decisions and Army regulations, process legal claims and appeals, and prepare records of hearings, investigations, courts-martial, and courts of inquiry. By joining the Army National Guard, you'll be preparing yourself for a rewarding civilian career as a legal assistant, clerk, paralegal assistant, or court clerk or recorder.

Career Opportunities

Civilian Paralegal Specialists can work for private law firms, banks, insurance companies, government agencies, and local, state, and federal courts. You'll have the opportunity to work in a variety of settings and industries, using your skills to make a real difference.

Training and Development

You'll receive 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 10 weeks of Advanced Individual Training and on-the-job instruction. You'll be paid to train and qualify for tuition assistance, making this a unique opportunity to earn while you learn.
