Job Summary

As a Paralegal Specialist in the Army National Guard, you will provide critical support to judges, Army lawyers, and unit commanders with legal matters and judicial work. Your expertise will be invaluable in areas like family law, international law, contract law, defense legal services, and judicial legal services.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing legal documents for courts-martial and other military justice matters
• Provide guidance on legal affairs, such as power of attorney, wills, and separation decrees
• Maintain law/administrative libraries and monitor actions for accuracy

What You'll Learn

Your training will equip you with the skills to interview witnesses, research court decisions and Army regulations, process legal claims and appeals, and prepare records of hearings, investigations, courts-martial, and courts of inquiry. By joining the Army National Guard, you will be preparing yourself for a rewarding civilian career as a legal assistant, clerk, paralegal assistant, or court clerk/recorder.

Training and Qualifications

Job training for a Paralegal Specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 10 weeks of Advanced Individual Training and on-the-job instruction.
