Job Overview

Position: Workers Compensation Specialist

Location: Remote

This role provides essential support to the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in the area of employee compensation management.

NAVSEA is the central entity within the Department of Navy responsible for the design, engineering, integration, construction, and procurement of U.S. Naval vessels and their associated systems. The organization also oversees the upkeep, enhancement, and modification of operational ships and their weaponry.

The selected candidate will deliver analytical assistance to the SEA 10D division, focusing on Enterprise Civilian Human Resources. This office serves as the primary HR consultant and authoritative source for civilian human resources matters within NAVSEA.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Acting as the main contact for managing and processing data to comply with Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP) standards for employees with work-related injuries or illnesses.
  • Applying knowledge of relevant laws and Navy regulations to ensure that claimants receive appropriate benefits.
  • Handling processes related to injury claims and compensation for federal civilian personnel.
  • Preparing necessary documentation, claims processing, reporting, and regulatory filings to meet the requirements of the Federal Employee Compensation Act (FECA).
  • Providing guidance and assistance to employees and supervisors regarding workers' compensation matters.
  • Serving as a liaison between injured employees and the Department of Labor's OWCP when necessary.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in providing support for FECA.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and under guidance, demonstrating self-motivation and results-oriented focus.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, etc.).

Education:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience.

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
