Residential Child-Care Regulation Inspector

As a Residential Child-Care Regulation Inspector with the Health & Human Services Comm, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of children in residential child-care facilities throughout the State of Texas. This position requires a strong understanding of Texas laws relating to child-care and child abuse/neglect, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor general residential operations and child-placing agencies to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
Conduct investigations into complaints, incidents, and reports of minimum standards violations.
Evaluate new applications for general residential operations and child-placing agencies to issue licenses.
Identify risk and recommend enforcement actions to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children.
Provide training and technical assistance to residential child-care providers on issues related to minimum standards.
Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to work in a mobile unit and travel as needed.
Ability to pass a background check, including a criminal history check and review of the Texas Child Abuse and Neglect Registry.
Working Conditions:
Work hours must be flexible and are not considered 8:00-5:00. Occasional work during the evening and weekends may be required.
Travel may be required outside of headquartered geographical area on occasion.
