Senior Child Care Investigator

As a Senior Child Care Investigator with the Health & Human Services Comm, you will conduct advanced investigations and inspections of unregulated child care facilities in accordance with state regulations. This role involves searching for unregulated operations, conducting complex investigations, and organizing trainings for providers. You will also interact with state agency staff, local stakeholders, and the general public.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct inspections of unregulated child care operations and compile information to identify unregulated facilities
Initiate investigations of unregulated facilities and follow up on high-risk operations
Establish priorities and methods for securing evidence of unregulated childcare operations
Prepare and process exemptions to determine compliance with regulations
Balance enforcing laws, rules, and regulations to respond to high-risk allegations
Oversee investigations of complaints, serious incidents, and reports of unregulated child care facilities
Respond to emergency complaints of abuse/neglect in unregulated child care operations and licensed/registered operations
Provide training and technical assistance to child care providers on minimum standards, rules, and laws
Lead community efforts as the regional community engagement specialist and participate in activities to inform the public and stakeholders about unregulated child care operations
Testify at administrative hearings or courts of jurisdiction
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree
Experience in evaluating and analyzing risk to children
Experience in participating in community engagement activities
Ability to work with diverse groups of people and analyze data to improve outcomes
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities and work with minimal supervision
Ability to travel
Working Conditions
This role requires regular attendance and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
