How You Will Contribute?

This role plays a crucial part in the overall management and execution of the fixed asset accounting operations within the Finance department, ensuring the accurate development, maintenance, and reporting of financial data in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Engaging with various departments to ensure the correct handling of invoices or entries related to construction in progress (CIP) or asset clearing accounts.
  • Working closely with project leaders to determine when CIP projects are ready for service.
  • Collaborating with FP&A to secure necessary approvals for capital expenditures.
  • Partnering with IT to classify internal labor for capitalization or deferral in relation to capital projects or cloud computing solutions.
  • Coordinating with the Tax Department to ensure the automated use tax process is executed effectively on a monthly basis.
  • Acting as the subject matter expert (SME) in all aspects concerning property, plant, and equipment (PP&E).
  • Executing monthly routines in the Oracle fixed asset module, including capitalization, depreciation, impairment, and retirement of fixed assets.
  • Conducting monthly analysis and review of capitalized surgical instruments through automated processes.
  • Preparing schedules, analyses, and work papers for routine audits and special requirements.
  • Managing monthly roll-forward and reconciliation of PP&E accounts.
  • Overseeing monthly close processes and related journal entries.
  • Generating financial reports in accordance with GAAP.
  • Providing management reports that include fluctuation analysis of PP&E.
  • Delivering data and insights to assist FP&A in budgeting and forecasting depreciation.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills Required:

The following qualifications are necessary for this position:

Education/Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
Experience, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • At least 3 years of experience in general accounting.
  • A minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience with fixed assets.
  • Experience with Oracle R12 is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • A proactive attitude coupled with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across functions and provide financial guidance related to PP&E.
  • Capacity to work independently and fulfill commitments.
  • A mindset geared towards continuous improvement.
