Position Overview

We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is currently seeking a Project Manager (Engineer) specializing in Combustion Turbines. This role is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a blend of remote and on-site responsibilities.


Role Summary

The Combustion Turbines Engineer will serve as a key resource, providing expert engineering support, project management, and contractor oversight for our combustion turbine generator fleet. The engineer will collaborate with power plant personnel to ensure effective planning, execution, and documentation of unit outages, major maintenance events, routine inspections, and repairs, all while supporting reliability, safety, and compliance initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field testing and engineering analysis to enhance equipment performance and reduce operational costs.
  • Diagnose and resolve operational and maintenance challenges by developing and implementing effective technical solutions.
  • Analyze power plant operational data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements through equipment upgrades and operational changes.
  • Manage capital projects across our power generation portfolio, including gas storage, wind, solar, and fossil fuel facilities.
  • Supervise contractors engaged in project work.
  • Prepare project budgets, timelines, and financial performance reports.
  • Develop project authorization requests (PARs) and participate in senior leadership project team meetings as necessary.
  • Lead scope development to evaluate and recommend design alternatives, systems, components, and materials, along with associated cost estimates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Relevant engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in power generation, with specialized knowledge of combustion turbine technology and management of related operations and maintenance activities.
  • Familiarity with GE frame 7FA/7EA heavy-duty combustion turbines and Pratt & Whitney FT4 aero-derivatives.
