KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee the planning, execution, and management of all Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives at the facility.
2. Responsible for the training and implementation of BD Excellence (Lean) methodologies among associates.
3. Collaborate with other Functional Managers to ensure that CI financial and project objectives are met on time.
4. Act as the primary Coordinator for the facility's Lean/Six Sigma initiatives.
5. Develop and execute a strategic plan aimed at the continuous enhancement of value streams for each primary product manufacturing process, ensuring optimization for efficiency and waste reduction (OEE).
6. In conjunction with Plant and DS Engineering, plan, schedule, organize, and delegate CI project activities. Set objectives, prioritize tasks, and manage project resources while reviewing progress and reporting outcomes to plant management.
7. Work with various functional departments to compile lists of cost-saving projects. Lead multiple teams towards achieving desired outcomes, prioritizing cost-saving initiatives, and managing timelines.
8. Coordinate with R&D, Marketing, and Quality as needed on CI projects to evaluate and enhance processes, including overseeing the ECO process for assigned projects.
9. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards for CI projects by collaborating with relevant groups. Adhere to all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, including HCRA Hazardous Waste guidelines. Align with BD's quality policies and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.
10. Supervise responsibilities as assigned.
11. Perform any additional duties as directed by the Plant Manager.
JOB DIMENSIONS:
Formulate and implement remediation strategies for any identified savings gaps as necessary. Exhibit exceptional communication skills, adeptness in interpreting and embodying BD values, and the ability to seek guidance when needed. Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Engineering/Facilities, Human Resources, Finance, and Product Support. The role requires independent thought and execution with minimal supervision. Success hinges on the ability to influence and manage change across all levels while effectively collaborating across functions, leveraging the expertise of subject-matter specialists within the DS and broader BDX organization.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline. At least 8 years of progressive experience in technical and/or managerial roles within a manufacturing context. Proven experience in implementing and leading Continuous Improvement initiatives utilizing the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) framework. Previous experience in an FDA-regulated (cGMP) environment or similar regulatory context. Certification or demonstrated expertise in lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies. Experience in developing manufacturing processes, drafting procedures, and training manufacturing personnel. Familiarity with MRP, production, and logistics planning. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio). Strong interpersonal skills, conflict resolution abilities, negotiation, and time management capabilities. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in cross-functional settings. Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in Management, Engineering, or a related field. Knowledge and experience in both high and low volume Medical Device manufacturing. Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and processes (SAP preferred). Experience in manufacturing with hazardous materials.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
