As a Lead Neuroscience Research Scientist, you will leverage your extensive knowledge in molecular and cellular neuroscience to tackle critical scientific challenges associated with neurodegeneration, protein misfolding, neuronal cell dynamics, and neuroinflammatory processes.
Your role will involve spearheading project design, implementation, and documentation by utilizing cell-based assays and exploring preclinical models to facilitate the identification, validation, and characterization of innovative therapeutic targets.
Key Responsibilities:- Engage in the creation and advancement of novel therapeutic approaches for Parkinson's disease, focusing on mitochondrial and lysosomal functionality.
Effectively communicate project strategies, scientific insights, and findings to essential stakeholders.
- Direct and/or participate in the planning, execution, and evaluation of experiments to produce high-quality data that informs project decisions. Contribute to project advancements by staying abreast of both technical and conceptual developments in the neurodegeneration arena.
- Develop and integrate Parkinson's disease models using both in vitro and in vivo methodologies in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
- Work closely with diverse teams of experts in molecular biology, drug discovery, and biochemistry, ensuring clear communication across all organizational levels and with external partners.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, or a related discipline, along with over 6 years of specialized experience in the molecular and cellular mechanisms of Parkinson's Disease.
A comprehensive understanding of Parkinson's disease pathophysiology and its relationship with cellular biological processes, particularly concerning mitochondrial and lysosomal pathways.
Proven expertise in establishing both in vitro and in vivo models of Parkinson's disease to investigate disease mechanisms and progression.
Exceptional skills in various laboratory techniques relevant to neuroscience and neuronal cell biology, including biochemistry, imaging, and molecular profiling.
Strong problem-solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within complex team structures.
Creative thinking to address scientific and operational challenges in a dynamic drug discovery context.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a history of leading collaborative initiatives.
Commitment to compliance with institutional policies, laboratory safety, animal welfare standards, and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD and relevant Post-Doctoral experience.
Experience with human iPS-derived neuronal models.
Familiarity with stereotaxic surgical techniques in rodent models.

Compensation and Benefits:
The compensation range for this position is expected to be between $107,000 and $160,000 annually, with final pay determined by various factors, including geographical location, experience, and skills.
The total compensation package may also include additional elements such as sign-on bonuses, stock options, and a comprehensive benefits package.
