About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Patient Dining Associate to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our Food and Nutrition Department, you will play a vital role in ensuring our patients receive exceptional care and nutrition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and current information for each patient on assigned units, ensuring seamless communication with clinical staff.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of modified diets, proper condiments, and related restrictions, as verified through a written test provided by clinical staff.
  • Report patients' understanding of diet to the Dietitian/Diet Technician, fostering a collaborative approach to patient care.
  • Assist the Dietitian with monitoring patients who are NPO, on liquid diets, or require intake recording, ensuring timely and efficient services.
  • Accurately and effectively adapt to physician-ordered modified patient diets, providing quality patient customer service and ensuring an efficient timing of services.
  • Assist patients with menu selections and work closely with the Food and Nutrition Department to assemble selected meals on trays and deliver/pick-up meal trays.
  • Communicate any patient/resident-related problems to appropriate personnel in a timely manner, promoting a culture of open communication.
  • Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned, adhering to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), or GED equivalent programs.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with basic computer skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs.
  • Strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of our patients and their caregivers.
  • Exceptional focus on teamwork.
  • Dedication to ongoing education.
  • Ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care based on a strong sense of patient focus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Food service experience.
