Medical Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to support our family medicine practice in providing clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient operation.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Duties:
- Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for examination by taking and recording vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints.
- Assisting Physicians: Assist physicians during examinations and minor procedures.
- Specimen Collection: Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory tests, and dispose of contaminated supplies.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications as directed by a physician.
- Patient Education: Educate patients on health maintenance and disease prevention.
- Wound Care: Perform wound care and dressing changes as needed.
- Equipment Sterilization: Sterilize medical instruments and ensure exam rooms are clean and well-stocked.
- Administrative Duties:
- Patient Scheduling: Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar.
- Medical Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records and documentation.
- Insurance Processing: Verify patient insurance information and process insurance claims.
- Billing and Coding: Assist with medical billing and coding for insurance purposes.
- Patient Communication: Answer phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and relay messages to the appropriate staff.
- Inventory Management: Order and maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Medical Assistant program.
- Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a family medicine or primary care setting is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems. (Experience with Athena a plus)
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Working Hours:
- Full-Time: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday
- Part-Time: Flexible hours, with a minimum of 20 hours per week.
