About the Role

MKS Instruments is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Designer to join our team. As a key member of our Engineering department, you will be responsible for creating technical 3D designs and documentation to support the development of state-of-the-art vacuum and pressure measurement instrumentation and test equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with product design engineers to update, create, and edit detailed 3D models and CAD drawings
  • Support design activities for existing products and design creation for new products
  • Develop and evaluate the feasibility of designs and suggest cost reductions, reliability improvements, and ways to increase product manufacturability using DFM methodology
  • Prepare and/or update assembly Bill of Materials in ERP system and provide engineering documentation as required
  • Prepare and submit ECOs in collaboration with engineers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical decisions, coordinate work, and execute projects
  • Communicate with vendors to validate component selection, consider alternatives, and ensure compliance with specification requirements
Requirements
  • AS in Computer-Aided Design, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Seven (7) or more years' experience creating mechanical CAD designs and documentation
  • Proficiency with PLM/PDM applications such as Agile PLM, SolidWorks EPDM, or PTC WindChill
  • Solid understanding of mechanical design, electronics packaging, and CAD design/layout
  • Proficiency with mechanical tolerancing, GD&T, and related drafting standards
  • Knowledge of ECO and ECR processes
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and machine shop methods of assembly and fabrication
  • Experience with vacuum systems is a plus
