Job Title: Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer

At Schneider Electric, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex power electronics systems and circuits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop power electronics systems and circuits, including AC to DC, DC to DC, low power bias supplies, power converters, power factor correction, and power feedback control.
  • Simulate circuits to demonstrate expected performance and develop schematics for these circuits.
  • Work with mechanical engineers to ensure circuit design will accommodate design envelope and with system architects to develop signals and methods of detection for circuits.
  • Collaborate with firmware engineers to help test and develop embedded code used to operate the system.
  • Design printed circuit board layout in conjunction with PCB designer to optimize electrical performance and meet compliance expectations.
  • Create Worst Case Analysis (WCA) and Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) of circuit designs to demonstrate circuits will perform as expected and have appropriate design margin.
  • Bench test and verify circuitry using lab equipment and validate test reports and results from junior engineers and technicians.
  • Present results to technical leaders for validation and create specifications, test, validate, and approve components used in the design.
  • Perform system integration testing of designed circuits to ensure proper functionality and troubleshoot and resolve complex circuit issues found during test process and DVT.
  • Work with industrialization teams to prepare designs for production.
Requirements:
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field and progressive post-Bachelor's experience in power electronics hardware electrical engineering design or related occupation.
  • At least 1 year of experience with Master's or 3 years with Bachelor's in designing and testing complex power supply circuitry, troubleshooting complex electronic circuits, designing control theory, power electronics, and analog and digital circuits, and testing product compliance.
  • Experience with PCB design tools (Cadence, PADS), firmware and digital control (DSP, FPGA), and simulation tools (PSpice, MathCad).
  • Strong understanding of electronic and electro-mechanical components (FET, IGBT, SiC, GaN, Diodes, transformers, inductors, and passive devices).
