Position Overview:

As a Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in delivering comprehensive rehabilitative care to patients with cardiac and pulmonary conditions. Your expertise will be vital in assessing and addressing the exercise, educational, and behavioral needs of our patients.

Compensation:

Salary Range:
$43,235 - $70,255 annually.

Unit Information:

Our Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation unit is committed to providing cutting-edge, research-based care for individuals facing heart or lung challenges. We cater to a diverse range of conditions, including recent heart attacks, heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and interstitial pulmonary fibrosis, with the aim of enhancing their quality of life and aiding recovery.

Our services are nationally recognized by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) and are supported by state-of-the-art technology and facilities. Our interdisciplinary team comprises nurses, exercise physiologists, dietitians, respiratory therapists, and behaviorists, all working collaboratively in a gym environment to educate patients on exercise and disease management while setting goals to improve their overall health.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver multidisciplinary rehabilitative care to patients with cardiac and pulmonary conditions.
  • Conduct assessments of patients' exercise capabilities, educational needs, and behavioral factors.
  • Evaluate patient conditions, focusing on strength, endurance, flexibility, and fall prevention strategies.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including medical directors, registered nurses, dietitians, and respiratory therapists, to establish rehabilitation goals and implement tailored treatment plans.
  • Assume a leadership role in guiding exercise prescriptions and progressions based on individual assessments.
  • Monitor program performance metrics to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Address the unique needs of patients across all age groups, from young adults to geriatrics.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred. Work experience cannot substitute for the educational requirement. Previous experience in a cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation setting is strongly preferred.

Licenses / Certifications:


Must hold a Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification from ACSM or a Certified Cardiac Rehab Professional (CCRP) from AACVPR, or obtain within 18 months of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) are required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
