_Overview of Cardinal Health's Pharmacy Operations_Pharmacy Operations is dedicated to the secure, efficient, and effective management of Cardinal Health's pharmacy services that cater to acute care hospitals, retail pharmacy clients, outpatient care, and various healthcare facilities, including oncology and cardiology practices.

Health System Pharmacy focuses on delivering tailored pharmacy program solutions aimed at reducing expenses and enhancing the quality of patient care for hospitals, health systems, and other integrated healthcare providers. This may also involve consulting with and advising healthcare teams on prescribed medications, supplies, and related processes.
Cardinal Health oversees pharmacy operations in various healthcare settings, and we are currently seeking a full-time Pharmacist to work 32 hours per week, Monday through Wednesday and Friday.

The operational hours are Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.*_Position Summary_
As a Pharmacist II within a hospital pharmacy system managed by Cardinal Health, the role involves adjusting and dispensing medications to patients while ensuring compliant and efficient pharmacy operations.

The Pharmacist is responsible for verifying physician orders through the pharmacy information system, making necessary adjustments according to established protocols, and providing patient education.

This position also includes supervising Pharmacy Technicians and managing compliance tasks related to accreditation, narcotics control, and inventory management._Key Responsibilities_
+ Utilizes expert knowledge of pharmaceuticals and related protocols to verify physician orders for medications using the pharmacy information system.

Reviews drug and dosage in relation to the patient's condition and addresses automated alerts from the system regarding medication type, dosage, and other relevant metrics.+ Oversees Pharmacy Technicians to ensure compliant and efficient pharmacy operations.

Reviews all work performed by Pharmacy Technicians in accordance with State Boards of Pharmacy regulations and provides guidance on complex prescriptions, pharmacy automation systems, orders, and other inquiries.+ Adjusts dosages based on established protocols for each medication, ensuring appropriateness for the patient's condition and considering other medications the patient may be taking, while completing clinical tasks related to antimicrobial stewardship.+ Educates patients on the proper use and anticipated effects of medications, particularly when patients are on multiple medications, starting new regimens, or being discharged.+ Manages narcotics and inventory control and compliance, including regular documentation and completion of checklists.

Conducts audits of outdated medications in states where Pharmacy Technicians are not authorized to do so.+ Communicates with Nurses and Physicians as necessary to verify orders and gather additional information regarding prescriptions.+ Assists the Pharmacy Director in maintaining the pharmacy's accreditation and implementing operational changes within the pharmacy, such as the introduction of new systems or adjustments to standard procedures._Qualifications_
+ Licensed pharmacist in good standing in the relevant state+ Experience in inpatient hospital pharmacy preferred+ Flexibility to work various shifts and be on-call as needed+ IV experience preferred+ Strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers and healthcare professionals+ Excellent customer service abilities.+ Manual dexterity required for occasional handling of small objects.+ Proficient in using multiple pharmacy information systems.
