Position Overview
DEFINITION:
The role involves delivering classroom and laboratory instruction within the Mechatronics Program at the college.
***This is a Time Limited, Temporary Full Time Grant Funded Position. Position ends December 2026 with potential to be extended***
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
- General supervision from the Department Chair, Applied Technologies
- Technical direction from the Mechanical Engineering Program Director
- Technical guidance to colleagues within the program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Delivering high-quality, relevant instruction aimed at workforce readiness in the Mechanical Engineering Program, utilizing current technologies and effective teaching methodologies.
- Planning, leading, and engaging in instruction for Mechanical Engineering Programs; creating supplementary materials and assessments; maintaining accurate records of student attendance and performance.
- Contributing to the development and execution of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for Mechanical Engineering Programs, including curriculum design and instructional coordination; recommending appropriate service and staffing levels within departmental guidelines.
- Continuously assessing and enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; monitoring workload, administrative support systems, and internal reporting structures; identifying areas for improvement and discussing with the Department Chair.
- Evaluating material, supply, and equipment requirements for Mechanical Engineering Programs; submitting requests for supplies to the Program Director.
- Coordinating efforts to recruit and retain students within the academic program; overseeing the development, review, and update of program publications and community relations activities.
- Collaborating with student services to implement admission, progression, and graduation policies for CFCC Mechanical Engineering Programs.
- Managing the selection, utilization, and maintenance of equipment and facilities associated with the program; may involve negotiating and contracting for educational facilities.
- Ensuring compliance with safe and appropriate work practices and procedures.
- Performing related duties as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Relevant Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
- Principles and procedures of academic and instructional program development and administration.
- Curriculum development and instructional strategies.
- Current trends and research in the field.
- Interpret and apply college goals, objectives, policies, and regulations.
- Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations.
- Effectively direct the academic area in support of college programs.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues.
- Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception necessary for various tasks.
- Maintain physical and mental capacity suitable for the responsibilities of the position.
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Minimum Education/Training:
- AAS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- At least five (5) years of professional experience in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- At least seven (7) years of professional industrial experience in Mechatronics, Industrial Systems Technology, Electrical/Electronic Technology, or a closely related field.
- Previous teaching experience is advantageous.
- This position requires submission of unofficial transcripts and/or training certifications along with the application.
- Official transcripts for all degrees obtained must be submitted prior to the first day of work.
- Candidates with degrees obtained outside of the US must have their academic credentials evaluated by an outside service.
- To claim veterans' preference, eligible candidates must submit a DD Form 214 during the application process.
