Job Title: Additive Engineer

At Addman Engineering, we are seeking a highly skilled Additive Engineer to join our team. As an Additive Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing metal 3D printing solutions using SolidWorks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop metal 3D printing solutions using SolidWorks
  • Work with a cross-functional team to develop and execute a business plan to achieve growth in the 3D printing market
  • Assess AM part candidates for material and equipment selection, manufacturability, design optimization, and business case development
  • Generate optimized designs and build files to produce high-quality parts in minimum time with maximum consistency
  • Collaborate with other engineers to refine the design of existing parts and optimize new parts to leverage additive technology
  • Work with Materials Engineers to investigate properties, geometric accuracy, and surface finish to develop optimal print parameters, heat treatments, and design allowables for existing and new alloys
  • Analyze complex problems, develop innovative solutions, and deal with ambiguity and frequent changes in priorities
  • Create reports and materials to support company projects and activities
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and ISO 9001-type activities
  • Support customer sales development activities via technical exchanges and communications
  • Design and detail molds, models, and fixtures
  • Communicate with outside customers
  • Maintain and support processes, procedures, and KPIs owned by your position
  • Review and maintain all procedures related to your job per HR LG 01 Training Matrix
  • Complete all training required by Job Description in HR LG 01 Training Matrix within the stated timeframe
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Regular and punctual attendance
  • Follow all Company policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • BS Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Material Science, or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • 2-5+ years of experience with additive machines (powder bed or binder jetting a plus), including parameter development and process control
  • Experience with additive simulation software
  • Experience with topology optimization software
  • 2+ years of experience in Siemens NX or similar 3D CAD software
  • Hands-on experience with various additive and subtractive manufacturing and joining techniques for metals and polymers
  • Experience with composites, high-volume manufacturing processes, material science, and/or biomimicry desirable
  • Able to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment
  • Highly self-motivated and able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Superior organizational skills, analytical skills, time management, and prioritization abilities
  • High level of confidentiality required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with different levels of management and teams
  • Passionate about rapid prototyping and 3D printing
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Independent and demonstrated ability to deliver successful designs under tight timing constraints
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Customer service/interaction experience
  • Proficient GD&T knowledge and ability to think 3-dimensionally
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Valid Driver's License and able to pass full background check and drug testing
Work Environment:
  • The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where all areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and other mandatory safety equipment
  • For the most part, ambient temperatures with typical plant lighting and manufacturing equipment are present throughout the facility
Physical Demands:
  • Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions and drawings and to inspect machined parts closely
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work
  • Able to lift 35 lbs. independently
  • Sit or stand as needed
  • Walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day
  • Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist, or lifting as required to reach documents or store materials throughout the workday
  • Proper lifting techniques required
  • Ability and comfortability to work in small confined spaces while following proper safety protocol
  • Ability to accomplish the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
