Senior Cost Estimator Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Estimator to join our dynamic team at Stantec. As a key member of our multidisciplinary municipal, industrial, and alternative project delivery design and construction management teams, you will play a critical role in developing accurate, timely, and detailed cost estimates for major capital and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise, facilitate, and coordinate the development of cost estimates for projects, ensuring superior client satisfaction.
  • Prepare cost estimates by analyzing costs, materials, labor, bid documentation, and specifications associated with each project.
  • Design, implement, and maintain cost estimating databases using various software applications.
  • Collaborate with project teams to review drawings and specifications, determining costs, and assisting in value management.
  • Evaluate third-party estimates and track market conditions and costs to validate estimates.
  • Provide expert estimating guidance to medium and large projects, even those of extreme complexity.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in cost estimating, construction management, or related fields.
  • Experience in developing construction cost estimates and schedules at various stages of design, in accordance with AACEI guidelines.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation software, including MCACES, MII, and @risk.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk products and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
