We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Hydraulic Structures Engineer to join our team at GEI Consultants. As a key member of our California Water Resources practice, you will lead the inspection, evaluation, design, and construction observation of hydraulic structures, including dams, spillways, outlet works, gates, water conveyance structures, and pump stations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead large projects within technical specialty and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Responsibilities will include structural analysis and design of hydraulic structures related to dams, flood control, hydroelectric facilities, and other water resource projects.
- Collaborate with senior project managers and technical staff across the company.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Travel to project sites and other offices as required, including overnight travel.
- Review technical reports, letters, and memoranda.
- Lead, or provide oversight for preparation of design calculations, permit documents, and reports.
- Develop construction drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents.
- Lead development of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Lead proposals to provide professional services and support other GEI offices with proposals and the delivery of professional services.
- B.S. degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with an M.S./Ph.D. degree preferred.
- 10 years of professional experience in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Licensed as Professional Engineer in California or ability to obtain within one year of hire date.
- Strong theoretical background in earthquake/seismic engineering and finite element modeling with expertise in using standard structural engineering software (SAP2000 and LS DYNA/ANSYS).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work well alone and in a team atmosphere.
- Willing to travel to site locations, as-needed, including field assignments.
- Valid driver's license.
