We're seeking a visionary Head of Science to spearhead our cutting-edge carbon removal technology. As a key member of our team, you'll drive scientific strategy and execution, pushing the boundaries of innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement field-deployed monitoring systems to optimize our technology.
- Design and conduct lab and field experiments to evaluate CO2 removal and greenhouse gas attenuation.
- Establish protocols for our CO2 removal approach, ensuring seamless integration with our technology platform.
- Lead and manage the R&D team, fostering a collaborative environment that drives scientific and technological advancements.
- Oversee scientific projects, ensuring progress towards carbon removal milestones and strategic decision-making.
- Design experiments to answer key technological development questions, providing scientific direction and feedback to the R&D team.
- Coordinate with operations to ensure data capture, results reporting, and system adoption.
- Define and comply with technical standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with research and engineering teams to integrate geochemical models into our technology platform.
- Analyze and interpret empirical and model results for strategic decision-making.
Required and Desired Skillsets:
- PhD in geochemistry, biogeochemistry, or a related field.
- Extensive hands-on experience in both laboratory and field research.
- Proven leadership experience in managing and developing a research team.
- Strong expertise in mineral kinetics, inorganic chemistry, and biogeochemistry.
- At least five years of laboratory research experience.
- Proficiency in data management and coding.
- Experience with hydrological and oceanographic modeling techniques and software.
- Capability to lift up to 15 lbs.
- Innovative, adaptable, and focused on execution within a startup environment.
- Deep commitment to addressing climate change.
- Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
