Patient Services Technician

The Patient Services Technician is responsible for performing specimen collection, labeling, and processing, as well as verifying the accuracy and quality of specimens collected. This role also involves training others in these techniques, test requisition entry, and greeting and directing patients through the lab. Additionally, the technician will perform point of care testing, ensure the accuracy of results, and maintain equipment and instruments. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, and certification as a phlebotomist is preferred. EKG training through an accredited organization is also preferred.
Key Responsibilities- Perform specimen collection, labeling, and processing
- Verify the accuracy and quality of specimens collected
- Train others in specimen collection and processing techniques
- Enter test requisitions
- Greet and direct patients through the lab
- Perform point of care testing
- Maintain equipment and instruments
- Follow policy for chain of custody record keeping for pre-employment urine drug screen collections
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as a phlebotomist (preferred)
- EKG training through an accredited organization (preferred)
The Patient Services Technician will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, interacting with patients, healthcare professionals, and other laboratory staff. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling patient information.
