About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Controller to lead our financial operations team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing all accounting areas, including month-end close, accounts payable, payroll, taxes, and internal reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the preparation of quarterly and year-end SEC filings, encompassing financial and business sections, risk factors, footnotes, MD&A, iXBRL tagging, and management review.
  • Ensure compliance with all SEC, GAAP, FASB rules and regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Design, implement, and maintain internal control processes in accordance with SOX.
  • Assist in developing the FP&A function to support organizational growth.
  • Prepare and manage monthly and annual operating budgets.
  • Collaborate with business units to accurately account for collaborations and strategic transactions.
  • Implement and customize financial systems as necessary.
  • Continually evaluate opportunities to enhance efficiencies and effectiveness in the monthly and quarterly accounting close process, ensuring a balanced workload.
  • Develop, manage, and mentor a high-performing team that drives continuous improvement and fosters a collaborative mentality.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and oversee the successful completion of the year-end audit.
  • Lead the preparation of annual statutory financial statements for management review and timely filings.
  • Create and maintain an SEC and statutory reporting calendar, coordinate key timelines and deliverables, and work collaboratively with various business partners to ensure timely, accurate, and complete filings.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of related experience, with required experience in the biotech industry.
  • Big 4 CPA with a bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of SEC Reporting and US GAAP.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Experience with various financial systems, preferably NetSuite and Coupa.
  • Ability to manage complex objectives and team goals in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work closely with a senior management team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
