Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Regularly produce financial reports and statements, including cash flow, budget versus actual reports, and forecasts.
  • Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
  • Oversee all financial, project/program, and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets.
  • Coordinate all audit activity and manage payroll and benefits, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Implement and manage software systems (Abila MIP, Sage) to streamline financial operations.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual budgeting and planning process, administer and review all financial plans and budgets.
  • Monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization's financial status.
  • Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting, and ensure timely and accurate tax reporting.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting and financial management experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
  • High proficiency in using financial management software, experience with Abila MIP and Sage is a plus.
  • Experience with A133 audits, indirect cost rate calculations, and grant management.
  • Extensive experience in managing payroll, fixed assets, revenue reconciliation, accounts receivable and payable, and tax reporting.
  • Proven ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board, or other outside partners.
  • Advanced knowledge of budget preparation, cost estimation, and fiscal management principles.
  • A degree in accounting, finance, or business administration is required. A CPA is required.
