Job Title: Facilities Technician

Cocoon House is seeking a skilled Facilities Technician to join our Operations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of our facilities, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for our youth, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment
  • Assess and prioritize maintenance needs, developing schedules and performing tasks as needed
  • Maintain overall cleanliness of common spaces, including HUB property
  • Create and maintain maintenance best practices, policies, and procedures
  • Communicate and partner with operations and leadership teams on long-term solution recommendations
  • Maintain weekly updates and administer online Maintenance Tracking software
  • Prioritize requests appropriately and handle them expeditiously
  • Vendor management, including annual certification scheduling
  • Ensure appropriate safety methods and standards are used, including storage of chemicals, tools, supplies, and equipment
  • Oversee facility improvement projects, including volunteer groups in collaboration with the Volunteer Manager
  • Order and inventory facility supplies
  • Perform minor electrical maintenance, including replacement or repair of fixtures and appliances
  • Perform minor plumbing maintenance, including replacement or repair of leaks and unclogging of drains
  • Perform minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work, including preparation of surfaces and application of paints, stains, and varnishes
  • Perform routine custodial services, both interior and exterior, at the HUB
  • Seasonal maintenance of landscaping at all sites
  • Reconfigure, install, position, and remount modular offices and space to accommodate user needs and maximize office space
  • Prepare surfaces and paint various structures and equipment to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment
  • Perform vehicle preventive maintenance, including replacement of light bulbs, tire pressure checks, oil changes, and windshield wiper replacements
Requirements:
  • 2+ years' experience in general building and grounds maintenance, including basic plumbing, HVAC, security, fire system upkeep, vehicle maintenance, commercial kitchen compliance, and overseeing multiple locations
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Clear a background check with DCYF
  • Possess a valid Washington State driver's license, insurance, and reliable transportation
  • Experience working in organizations experiencing rapid growth and expansion a plus
  • Capable of managing a facility database where facility and grounds requests are submitted
  • Ability to use common tools, including a hammer, drill, diagnostic meters, etc.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of OSHA requirements
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
