Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Safety Officer to join our team at the University System of New Hampshire. As a Public Safety Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing laws, maintaining order, and providing a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas, buildings, streets, and grounds to enforce laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Make frequent contacts with the public and other law enforcement officers to gather information and develop cases.
  • Perform accident investigations, review reports, and prepare complaints and warrants.
  • Participate in crime prevention programs, assess and correct personal and facility risks, and organize crime prevention activities.
  • Operate law enforcement equipment, perform duties at special events, and complete related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Must be 21 years of age at time of appointment.
  • Ability to project self-assurance and certainty, express self in writing, and react and cope with stressful situations.
  • Demonstrated organizational ability, ability to react responsively in emergency situations, and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must qualify annually with designated department weapons based on New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council Standards.
  • Effective progressive work history, successful completion of a physical examination and fitness agility test, and no criminal record other than minor motor vehicle violations.
  • Be even-tempered and have a positive attitude with coworkers and community.
  • Must possess a valid New Hampshire Driver's License and certification as a full-time police officer by the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council or ability to receive certification within one year of appointment.
  • Resourcefulness, tact, and skill in dealing with the general public and distressed individuals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Criminal Justice from an accredited college/university.
  • Experience as a Police Officer with a Campus Law Enforcement Agency.
  • Possess valid New Hampshire Motorcycle License.
