Job Title: Teaching Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to fill the position of Teaching Associate in the Department of Animal Sciences and Agricultural Education at Fresno State.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing classroom instruction, managing the classroom, and assisting students outside of class or laboratory hours. The position requires a strong commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities:
  • Instruct and manage the classroom
  • Maintain office hours
  • Classroom and/or laboratory instruction
  • Making assignments to students
  • Preparing course materials
  • Administering examinations
  • Assessing student performance, including determining course grades
  • Assisting students outside of class or laboratory hours
  • Attending meetings scheduled by the faculty for purposes of briefing, coordination, and discussion of course content and materials
  • Participating in distance learning activities
  • Performing other assignments supportive of university instruction
Qualifications:
  • Admission to the Master's Program in the Department of Animal Sciences and Agricultural Education, in good academic standing
  • Enrollment in at least 6-units for the semester or in two courses toward the degree
  • Ability and willingness to work with computers including common word-processing software, and computer and Internet-based language teaching technology
  • Demonstrated, satisfactory progress towards the degree
  • Ability to relate well with others within the academic environment and have the ability or potential to learn how to instruct and evaluate students
  • Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level
  • Expertise in a closely related natural science discipline
  • Evidence or desire for publications in scholarly journals
