Job Title: Public Transit Mechanic

$70,000 - $100,000 per year

We are seeking an experienced mechanic to join our team at WMATA. As a public transit mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine and complex maintenance work on buses and other vehicles to ensure they are safe and reliable.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and perform necessary repairs.
  2. Diagnose and repair mechanical problems using specialized tools and equipment.
  3. Assist in training new employees and providing guidance on maintenance procedures.
  4. Participate in quality control processes to ensure high standards of workmanship.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive maintenance and repair.
  • Valid CDL permit and satisfactory driving record.
  • ASE certifications in multiple areas (Transit Bus, Automotive, Medium/Heavy Truck, or School Bus).
