POSITION OVERVIEW
In the role of Financial Operations Manager, you will collaborate closely with the Controller to oversee all financial operations. Your expertise will be essential in managing accounting, strategic planning, and financial analysis across various departments. Success in this position hinges on your ability to partner effectively with operational teams to meet financial objectives consistently. You will take ownership of local accounting functions and play a crucial role in ensuring that robust financial controls are established and adhered to. Key competencies include operational insight, a solid grasp of cost accounting, leadership capabilities, and comprehensive business acumen.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a financial advisor to local management, enhancing their understanding of the financial implications of business decisions, particularly in cost accounting.
- Oversee the accounting close process for all reporting cycles, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Support the Controller in managing daily accounting operations, including billing, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with the Controller to produce internal financial reports that provide insights into business performance.
- Guide various departments by clearly communicating existing accounting and budgeting policies, while also developing and sharing new procedures as necessary.
- Assist in budget preparation and forecasting, delivering precise projections.
- Work alongside the Controller to monitor and communicate significant trends and changes in budget expectations, analyzing and reporting on variances.
- Participate in the audit process, liaising with external auditors during year-end and interim audits.
- Conduct key analyses and risk assessments related to forecast submissions.
- Collaborate with the Controller to enhance system integration and reporting across the organization, improving the quality and timeliness of financial information.
- Research accounting issues to ensure compliance with GAAP standards.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, with a strong foundation in financial reporting and general ledger management.
- A minimum of 3 years in a leadership role overseeing accounting teams and coordinating multi-departmental processes.
- Experience in manufacturing accounting is advantageous.
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, and familiar with accounting software.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting and financial processes.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed forecasts.
- Highly organized with effective prioritization skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
