Role Summary:

The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers during patient examinations and treatments. This position is responsible for a variety of tasks that enhance patient care and clinic operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately measure and record vital signs and patient complaints in electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Prepare examination rooms for patient assessments.
  • Administer vaccinations and perform phlebotomy when necessary.
  • Facilitate patient check-in and check-out processes.
  • Coordinate follow-up appointments for patients.
  • Engage with the Case Management team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Manage biohazardous waste disposal.
  • Order and maintain clinic supplies.
  • Assist in the procurement of clinic vaccines.
  • Input patient data into EMR/EHR systems.
  • Document immunization records in the EHR as required.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Safeguard patient information during transport.

Supervisory Role:

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Access to Information:

The Medical Assistant will have access to all clinical records and medical information pertaining to clinic patients, as well as access to the shared network and specific databases for data entry.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) along with a Phlebotomy license.

Language Proficiency:

Ability to read and interpret medical documentation to ensure clear communication of patient issues to healthcare providers.

Certifications:

Must hold a current, active Medical Assistant certification.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands for various tasks. Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds may be necessary.
